PRIVACY
Last updated 16 October 2026
joe.taylortowe.rs is a personal, non-commercial site run by Joe Taylor. There are no accounts, no adverts and no analytics. This page explains the small amount of data involved in using it.
What is stored on your device
If you choose "Allow storage" in the banner, the site uses your browser's local storage to keep:
- your best score for each quiz topic;
- whether the site is in light or dark mode;
- whether TWINKLE is switched on.
Your choice in the banner itself is also stored, so the banner does not appear on every page. This is strictly necessary and is kept whichever option you pick.
None of this leaves your device. It is never sent to a server, and nobody else can see it. If you choose "Essential only", the quizzes and tools still work fully; scores just are not remembered between visits.
Whichever option you pick, switching between light and dark mode is remembered in session storage until you close the tab, so the page you open next matches the one you left. This is part of the feature you asked for and is cleared by the browser when the tab closes.
Changing your mind
Use "Cookie settings" in the footer of any page to change your choice. Picking "Essential only" deletes any scores and settings already stored. Clearing your browser's site data does the same.
Server logs
Like every website, the hosting provider receives your IP address and basic request details (such as the page requested and your browser type) in order to deliver pages and protect against abuse. These logs are handled by the host under its own privacy policy and are not used by this site to identify or track you.
Fonts
Typefaces are loaded from Google Fonts. Your browser therefore connects to Google's servers, which receive your IP address. Google's own privacy policy covers how it handles that request.
Your rights
Because this site does not collect personal data on a server, there is normally nothing held about you to access, correct or delete. If you have a question or concern, get in touch through joetaylor.org. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page will be updated.
